I have an electric homelite weedeater. The string keeps advancing. Not good. How do I lock it in?

My weedeater will crank up and run on full choke. However, when I move it to half choke or idle it dies.

NEVER run a 2 cycle engine without mixed oil/gas. Are you out of your mind? A few minutes and you will have a scored cylinder if your lucky and if not a locked up engine. BAD ADVICE!!!!!!!!

Is the primer bulb filling with gas. If not it may not be getting gas through the carb and requires a carb kit and cleaning. This should be done only by a repair man. If it's filling with gas, prime it at least 7 times, choke it on A (not C) it will pop and may start then go to B, prime it 2 more times then it will run, run it for about a half minute then go to C. Many people think C is choke. It IS NOT. A-B-C is the order of starting. On some it may be 1-2-3 which is the same order of starting.

Make sure you replaced the same type of spark plug. Then, try emptying the fuel and replace with 100% unleaded gas. Normal procedure to start. Run for a few minutes until white smoke is gone. Then replace with the correct oil / gas mixture.
