The engine management light comes on intermittenly on my 2000 Astra 1.8 auto. The local garage cleaned the injectors but this has not fixed the problem.

They say the next step would be a de-coke and valve clean up costing £770-£800. Could there be some other cause?

There could be many causes and you will need a mate with a DTC code reader to give you a clue to what is wrong. What are the symptoms of the problem?
