how can i fix my dvd recorder working?

i cant get picture or sound from my sanyo dvd recorder and its not making any noises, but there is a faint light on it, can you help

Well it seems to me it is very dirty. clean the lens (that is the infrared eye on the unit)IT DOES MEAN YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT APART. or use a cleaner.
try it you never know unless you try?
