Picture disappears after 2-3 sec?

When I turn the TV on, I get a picture for 2-3 seconds, then the screen goes black. This is the same on all terrestrial channels, cable and DVD. Sound is OK. I have turned everything off and rebooted, and I have checked all cables to ensure they are in properly.
