Neff Dishwasher fault model S5453X0GB/17 controller problem?

The program duration display is only faintly illuminating the two lower right hand vertical bars. The LED indicators are displaying correctly. I understand that this may mean that the controller needs to be replaced. How do I access the controller? I'm able to remove the front kitchen-matching panel and it appears that there is a removal steel panel at the top of the appliance's front, but I can't work out how to remove it. I would like to check the connections to the controller before writing it off, particularly as very occasionally, the fault disappears. In the meantime, I'm handwashing all our dishes!...

Took apart again and this time looked at the control board in detail. It looks like there was some slight dampness on the smaller PCB (containing the buttons and LED) which once cleaned with electrical cleaner, worked again.

Basically my conclusion is that water (steam) was getting into the panel somehow and so I set about cleaning all the door seals. Looks like this has worked as it has not occured again!

I have almost the same problem (except displays two top LED bars). Took controller apart down to the board and cleaned everything with electrical contact cleaner. No obvious signs of water ingress (which could cause fault). It worked for one wash and now same fault again. Will try again but maybe a dry joint on the board somewhere. I suspect it is the control board unless anyone else has another idea?
