The starter has been changed (twice) and its starts fine in the mechanics garage and then same day only a solenoid click can be heard on turning the key. starter will not engage. There is plenty of power from the battery and all leads check out fine. Can anyone help please?

Thank you for your quick advise which I have passed on to the mechanic. This is more or less what LDV have been saying too so I am glad I have a good second opinion. Perhaps you should have your own website?

check ignition switch to loom connections and make sure they are clean and tight where they push together, also check engine to chassis earth is also tight and clean connection [not sure but i think there is a small earth wire on one of starter bolts] also there is a relay,n/s next to parcel tray, is it ok -they can sometimes get water in them!
