realistically you need to take the lift off the track to put new battery in as putting them in while it is on the track is more trouble than its worth.
you also need a spacific tool to get the lift back on the track safely without breaking the charge connection and getting the batterys out and back in can result in pulling connection cables off as its really tight inside...
