Problem with "No Disk" when DVD is loaded?

What does it mean and what can I do if my DVD player says "No Disk" when I'm trying to load a DVD. I even tried to load a cleaner disk but the same thing happened. Nothing will play on it. It tries to load it but the message comes up No Disk every time.

look for the website for your make of dvd player (sony, panasonic etc) contact them and ask for a "firmware upgrade disc". they should send you one free. then simply load in your player and it will download updated firmware and should sort out problems on your dvd player. however if your player refuses to load this disc, it will mean your player will have to be repaired. if its warranty has expired, you will probably be better off just buying a new dvd player.
hope this helps.

I have a sony dav-s300 that is saying no disc as well... the repair cost from sony would be $176! They said it was probably the eye that reads the disc and that I would be best off buying a new one... sorry that is not a good answere.
