my Indesit idl500 dishwasher won't empty - any advice?

The outlet pipe appears ok, the diswasher fills, but doesn't empty, 2 light flash on the display.

If the first two lights on the display flash simultaneously, the pump is restricted in some way. I fixed mine in about 20 minutes, found some kind of elastic tape wrapped around the impeller shaft within the pump. Possibly something that Indesit put into the machine so it mysteriously malfunctions out of warranty!!Removed it carefully and it seems fine now. The inside of the machine was spotless - not bad for 3 years old. I found the machine straightforward to work on and easy to take apart and re assemble.

I also have had the same problem, and again a bone was fould jammed in the pump. Was removed and now OK

Mine had the same problem today. I found that a samll chicken bone had become lodged in the pump that empties the unit. I removed the pump, cleaned it out and hey presto! If you want any further advice e-mail me at ant@blueyonder.co.uk

There may be other reasons, but I found that my dishwasher would not empty because the outlet pipe from the cleaning bay(within the dishwasher) was clogged with grease accumulated over 2 to 3 years. I presume I should have cleaned the appliance occasionally on the hottest cycle without any dishes, although I regularly clean the filter.
