Hi there i have just been given a sony turntable (ps-lx46p) but it's power cable is for attaching to an hi fi which gives the turn table power, is there anyway I can use this with my existing Sony Hifi (mhc-rg121) either through pluggin it in or running it from some sort of power converter
My turntable works but arm is stiff and too rigid for the vinyl grooves to move it across the record. Can I put a bit of electrical spray on arm to ease it up or is this a serious problem?

I connected a 12V 1A power supply to it. (striping the cables from both the supply and the turntable.) Works splendid! Like someone said, if it spinns the wrong direction, switch the cables from the power supply.

Im in the same boat, i recently found one but im kinda apprehensive about cutting the wires as they sell for quite a lot. does anyone know what model hi-fi they are built for?

Just cut the plug off and attach it to a 12v DC power supply. If you get the wires the wrong way round the turntable goes the wrong way, so change them!

I'm in the same boat - someone gave me the turntable but the power supply is for the hifi. Is there an adapter out there that i can buy. I've looked all over the web but i can't find anything.
