My ceiling lights won't work?

One day when I was changing a bulb in my living room light - it has 3 bulbs, but I don't know the make - There was a flash and a pop and now the lights won't work. I've tried the bulbs in another socket and they are fine. I also put a plug onto the light fitting and all 3 were fine. Also, the hall lights haven't worked since then either. Can you help, please.

No they are not wired separately - Live and Neutral loop from ceiling point to ceiling point on a fused supply - sometimes one for downstairs and one for upstairs.

If a live or a neutral wire falls out (becomes disconnected) at any ceiling point - all the lights that follow in the chain will stop working.

Thanks, but I checked the fuse before posting on here. Our house has the older type fuse box where the fuses have the fuse wire joined at both ends. The wiring is also the old colours. I just find it strange that some lights in the hous work and some don't. Are they wired seperately?

A fuse has blown - or a circuit breaker tripped - look for your electricity supply board - consumer unit - and fix it.

Else call in an electrician... you may have disturbed a wire or two at the ceiling fitting disconnecting the fitting itself and the "downstream" hall light circuit.
