How can i fix this super little 8mm player?

Hi
I've just obtained a Sony EV A-300UB 8mm vcr and it was ejecting for the first few times now it just powers on.NO eject.
I hav'nt even had the chance to see if it plays.
Any ideas what to look for in this model?
