Zanussi dw 907 No water coming into the machine?

Dishwasher emptying, heating up and control knob turning OK, but no water coming into the machine. I disconnected everything, pulled it out and turned it upside down. Two interconnecting plastic tanks full of water visible with one of them, the round one, containing orange liquid. I couldn't see any way of emptying it. I reconnected everything and put it back in place. It worked! Water was spraying! I turned it off and tried it again - no water coming in! Help!

I'll answer my own question.
I fitted a new water inlet valve (purchased on the internet for £20 including postage) and the machine is back in working order.
