John Lewis JLWM1407 fault (electrolux, Zanussi, AEG rebadge)?

Hi I wonder if anyone can help.
Our washer just suddenly stopped spinning yesterday, I have checked the filter etc and all is well. I removed the motor today and took it to a local washer repair guy who said the copper bushes were fine and the motor visually looked ok. He told me it was probably the module board which are too expensive to replace so go and buy a new washer.

I put the motor back in and tried the spin cycle without the belt attached to the drum to test the motor, it spun fine but if the belt is re-connected same problem. It seems like either the motor or the drum is freezing?

Any ideas would be welcome, don't fancy spending £350+ on a new machine when we've had no problems until now.
