How can I fix the speed control on my Kenwood FP505 mixer?

The speed control on our Kenwood FP505 mixer is malfunctioning. The machine suddenly started to run at full speed and the slide control no longer alters the machine's speed. Is this something I can readily resolve with a diy replacement part? Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

in case your still looking for an answer.
Make sure your appliance is unplugged.
Put your mixer in the up position. Remove the 2 screws that hold the guide. You now can tip your mixer further back and also drop the bottom casing around the motor. Take a look at your speed dial, there is a small groove on the outer part, the little silver pin needs to run inside that groove. The dial will only fit on the motor in one position, but that pin needs to be inside the groove to be able to adjust the speed. You can remove the dial by pulling straight out, then insert it back in paying attention to the pin, it might take a little playing around but it will go in easy. So dont use any force.
You know it is right if you can turn the dial smoothly all the way.
Put everything back together and keep enjoying your mixer.

Disclaimer: This procedure works for me and my mixer, there might be different models outthere with a different setup. Use common sense and play on the safe side. Dont use any force or you brake something. (Hammer's are not reccomended to fix a Kenwood) You only need a Phillips screw driver.
Dont sue me if you brake it or injure youre selve.
