What Handicare means here is that his company wants to make money from servicing what is a pretty simple bit of kit. He knows how much people rely on the lift.

If they published a service manual you will see how simple it is ansd could fix it without any danger - but dress it up in concern for the user and use a safety smoke screen and you have to pay £70 to one of their authorised agents

Dear Joanne,

I am afraid that as the manufacturer we only recommend that authorised Minivator Dealers remove or install Stairlifts as the consequence of an incorrect installation can be severe. If a mobility dealer has supplied you with a secondhand unit we would suggest that they should have left the lift in working order so maybe they could help?

This website will not allow us to post a response with contact details but if you email our enquiries address and let us have your postcode we can give you the details of dealers in your area. They may offer a call out service.

Alternatively we do offer a call out service but this will be chargeable. I am sorry that we cannot be of more practical assistance but for reasons of Health and Safety we do not advocate owner maintenance as there are no user serviceable items on our stairlifts.

Regards

Handicare
