Stannah 420. 2008?

my stannah 420 stairlift started going slow up and down, i have replaced the batteries but no improvement.
now it has just stopped, it won't go up or down.
when the switch is moved the solenoid engages but no movement.

Sounds like the batteries weren't charging. Check step by step, starting with the mains supply.
