zanussi fl1123?

Loaded machine & soap, centre compartment, set to cycle F. Machine starts to fill so leave to continue cycle. Return, cycle finished, soap gone but wash still wringing wet, some parts dry so no rotation of drum. Remove back assuming belt fault, slightly worn but intact and fitting as normal. Suspect brushes gone but can't find and motor seems very awkward to remove. Is repair possible and cost effective? Are brushes the most possible fault?

Removed both brushes and they have stacks of 'brush-carbon' about 1" which moves freely, so replaced the originals and tried machine again. Fills and empties as normal but still no drum movement in any program, spin or wash as before. Any ideas, please?
