I recently bought a second hand garter carraige.Model kg8811. the g lamp lights up on my knitting machine(kh900) so I assume its in the correct position . The problem is when its switched on the needle starts to move but the machine itself stays stationary and so does nothing ,it just doesent move at all any ideas. Debbie

Is it sitting on the bed properly? I've had a few panics re possible damage to GC when not moved, + problem was simply being placed incorrectly on bed,
I remember reading something about your GC model + needing magnets for later machines/electronics. Did the previous owner have a punchcard or electronic? If the former might be You need to get magnets-am sure seen sites with fitting instructions.
However rather than me rattling on see address listed for professional information regarding magnets + GC, plus more:

Also www.daisyknits.com mentions kg88 + electronics KH900-970 needing- 'add sensors and book,' plus '
'additional rail over the top of the louvred rail and cut off the stoppers at the ends of the added rail.'
If you've got this sorted try asking on a yahoo MK forum, or put 'garter carriage' plus model no. into Google.
Hope you get it sorted soon without additional expense, they're brilliant machines-I live in fear of anything happening to mine!

Hi Debbie,
It may be that there is a loose wire in the plug. My garter carriage used to stop for no apparent reason and when I checked, one of the wires was loose. Once I tightened it the carriage worked perfectly.
Hope this helps,
