how to delete online history

After what the other have said, unless you spend some energy using the right tools in recovering deleted files that are NOT, or no longer, in the recicle bin, normaly, the deleted files can be considered gone for good.

Even with the right tools, there are great chance that any deleted file to be at least partialy overwriten, making them mostly useless.

It all depends for what reason you want to delete something.
For the casual user, deleted files out of the trash are totaly gone.

mm's answer isn't completely correct.

Whereas it is true that when you delete something under MS Windows all that actually happens is some pointers in the Operating System are reset, leaving the actual data in place. However next time space is needed on the disk, that area will be overwritten by the OS and thus delete the original data by that overwriting.

This method of using the disk space is the reason that files get fragmented and so defraggers are needed.

There are also utilities available that will erase data from a disk by the use of multiple overwriting.

In the OP's case I agree that using CCleaner is the best method but to fully erase the data, one would need to follow it up by writing some large files to disk.
