How can I replace a broken GU 10 bulb?

When trying to replace a faulty 50 watt GU 10 light bulb I found that the ceramic part of the bulb disintergrated when I tried to remove it. Now I have the "pins" and part of the ceramic base left in the bulb holder. Any ideas on how I can remove it?

Isolate the electrical supply before you attempt to do this repair, remove the light from the ceiling ( it should just pull down) get a large pair of pliers ( big enough to fit each side of the ceramic part of the lamp, clamp the pliers onto the ceramic part of the lamp turn anti clockwise, the ceramic should fall out
