Ben I am not sure thqat what you have is a problem.
I have adjusted my machine to make sure it does cut out rather than belt all over the laundry damaging itself in the process. It is random when the wash cycle is finished wether the clothes will be reasonably bance or not so if it is unbalanced the machine will cut out.
I think the new mqachines get ovet this by stating the spin cucle slowly getting rid of the heavy water before speeding up
The only other posibility may be that the wash cycle only goes in one directio rather than returning so closes are twisted around agitator and more out of balance. I still have to explore this posibility. There is a question about this under simpson in similar questions.
