got a stannah stairlift 420 it goes realy slow when you first start it sometimes it wont move at all you have to give it a push have put 2 new batteries on it once it goes about 2 foot it seems to be ok if anyone can help thanks in advance

hi,,,,,,looking at your question on your stairlift, there could be a few factors to it....
but the one that comes to mind is, underneath the side carriage covers there are slowing/stop limit switches whitch are activated when you get to the end of travel on the rail by the white plastic ramps situated underside of rail top/bottom...these are adjustable in/out by 8mm spanner....it sounds like one of the slowing ramps needs adjusting in, because if it is out to far it can cause the mushroom head on the slowing limit
swith[carriage] to stick in,thus causing stairlift to travel half speed and stop....hope this will help.........regards
