the switch on the fuse socket which runs the washing machine has suddenly stopped working and can neither switch on or off, pleeeeease help......

This question is in the Plumbing category - but no matter...

The switch will either be permanently on or permanently off - it can't be half way.

Run the washing machine if you need to from another socket - via an extension lead if necessary.

Either engage an electrician or replace the switch plate yourself taking all necessary safety precautions.
