emergancy back up pump?

as i live in the midle of nowhere and the house is quite old we have a duel fuel heating system a solid fuel boiler with very litle controle exept burn rate and a old gas boiler upstaires as a back up . sein wat hapend in japan with the nuke station got me thinkin wat would hapen if the power failed , we are out not around to shut down the boiler the system would boil to death , me thinks to add an extra pump near the coal boiler on a hgv battery and an inverter , would the new pump hinder the flow of the main original pump, or would it alough BLOW THROUGH.

wait a mo,i just re-read your message,if your power fails, your gas boiler will shut down,so,why you worry?????

inverter would eat up the current in the battery,as was said, buy a diesel generator,it can be wired to cut in when the mains fail, this involves a few electrical mods, but a comp.electrician can do the job, what happens is this, when the mains fails,a relay trips, and starts the generator, this will power your house till either the power comes back on,(the relay de-energises,)or your diesel runs out, last one we did cost around £4.500,
but since the guy lived as you say, middle of nowhere,he was happy to pay it,you may get it cheaper, shop around.

Hgv battery wouldn't last long, better off saving up for a generator to run the pump, you can buy a gizmo that detects power failure and kicks the generator in automatically but would cost you a bit.
Dont think we are set for a tsunami for a while though!
