Model K6751 won't power up?

I have a Regal K6751 breadmaker. I have not used it in a couple of years and decided it was time again. However, when I plugged it in I seemed to have power problems. I actually got the control panel to light up a couple of times my plugging and unplugging it several times. Then I could push the buttons to adjust the settings, but as soon as I hit start the power just goes off. The outlet appears to be fine. I can turn the paddle by hand and even tried going straight to "bake" instead of "knead", but the power still shut off. After about 3 attempts at this I have been unable to even get the control panel to light up again. I decided to try and look inside to see if there was a loose connection but am unsure as to how best to do this.
