I have a similar problem. My Panasonic SC-PM39D CD changer won't open. Radio and cassette is working fine. the remote is working fine as well and the cd commands are ok, but the cd changer makes no noice. as if there is a current problem. I opened it and removed the cd in the locked second tray , and after reassembly i thought the cd would recheck itself (as it did previously when working) but it didn't. I think its a current problem. A fuse or something !! i have to reopen and recheck again ( i hope i find the time to do that)
