Spin programmes D and N do not respond when selected. Other wash programmes do not respond intermittently, when selected.

There is no rinse hold button on this model. Programmes F to M stop with water left in drum and require the selection of either programmes D, N or P to spin and/or empty the drum.

Understood, but the main problem is that when the machine does run through a washing programme, say programme F or G it is always necessary to manually select programme D or N for the final spin and drain. These two programmes are not working.

If the wash programmmes are working, then the door is OK, therefore D and N should also be working, so there must be another problem. the drain filter is regularly checked and is clear.

so the machine isn't starting then.This could be an issue with the door lock and possibly the timer but timers are not a common failure!.if the door doesn't sense itself locked it will stop programmer from starting up

Programmes D & N are for final spin and drain. These are not working, i.e. not spinning or draining. The other wash programmes sometimes do not start at all. When this occurs, none of the programmes function.

Are you saying the machine doesn't star a program or is it starting up,filling with water and then doing nothing else.Need a bit more info
