Trying to fire up my worcester oil boiler?

Hi I have recently bought a second hand Worcester oil combination boiler, we have gone through the manual and pressured the system, turned on and requested heat on the controler etc but nothing happens. I was about to try and get hold of a plumber tomorrow and get them to have a look but does anybody know of anything obviouse I might be missing? Many thanks James

you dont state the mod,and timer/programer,,and without knowing which boiler you have,,,but we do know the worcesters,,along with a lot of others. heres a few obvious,,,Timer must be pressed on select,,maybe you have already..but it does catch me occasionally,,if i havnt touched one for a while..check the limit stat..is lose,,(thats ok!)Next with a phase tester,,or test meter,, check for lose conections ,,is there life down to the burner,,,thats the red wire down to the burner, control box removed on the burner is best,, or test it under the control panel,,being careful not to fuse the pcb if it has one. ,,..if no life to the burner,, check the 'stats' are calling for heat,,life up to and across the terminals of the thermostats in other words..then its exterior controls,,stats, zone valves,,just be logical, take it step by step,,,till you find where the life is broken,,,simple!
