my washer fills then empties then nothing?

I have a hoover special edition 1300 model number PE235 i switch it on it fills but doesnt wash the dial clicks around and then empties,any ideas on what to do and is it expensive to repair.

Depending on its age check the brushes on the motor or it could have a speed control board on it in either case you will prob need an engineer...a motor will cost around 80-90 quid and the speed control board will be around 40-50
