when ive gone to do a load of washing ive found water in the compartment where id put the liquid in, how do i go about fixing this?

this could be a blockage in the syphon in the drawer, that means that it dosen`t empty after the conditioner has gone into the wash.if you remove the drawer and give it a clean inside,you may see a small cap inside the conditioner drawer,remove this and clean inside as well.
