loud bang and flash from under washing machine?

hi my hotpoint wt540 has been playing up for a bit now,grinding noises ive cleaned the filter out i turned it on before and after about 5 mins a loud bang and a flash it tripped the elecric to, it will still turn on could it be the brushes? they are 50 quid for this model

cheers mate, found some wires with black on them could it just be a loose wire near them?

it will not be the carbon brushes more likely motor also pcb will cost a fortune if its under 5 years old hotpoint will mend it for £129, ps carbon brushes dont cost £50
