IBM Thinkpad 380ED problem?

I have an IBM thinkpad 380ED and I keep getting error codes 161 and 163. I have taken my battery out and kept it plugged into the powercord. I have reset my time clock, taken the 3V battery out and put it back in, but I will not load, Can anyone help me?

You need to replace the CMOS battery (The one that you call the 3v battery.) because the machine is losing its setup data.
