how can i fix my digihome pvr 160gb hard drive?

my digihome pvr 160gb recorder will not initialise the hard drive it comes up....disc error ,.... will any hdd fit or does it have to be specially formatted

I read somewhere else that someone had tried a 500Gb HDD and a 1Tb HDD. The former worked ok but the latter didn't, which was assumed to be due to the HDD requiring more voltage than the other ones. I suggest you take a look at the 160Gb HDD and see what its specs are, then order a new one which won't tax the internal power lines too much. It would be helpful if you posted the 160Gb specs here for others to see.
