Getting at the the motor chamber in Kenmore model 166.26500991C vacuum?

Hi there. I have a Kenmore model 166.26500991C vacuum cleaner. (class CP-JR) I cannot figure out how to get the chamber open to get at the motor (I can see 2 screws and the tubing for 2 more but I can't get at the heads for the latter 2--they are undernath the cord retractor button).

Please email at c.martins@utoronto.ca

Would you know a solution to this?

Thanks,
Carlos

Me again. I figured it out.

Basically you have to pry out the cord retract button and that will enable you to get at the 2 hidden screws. Place a flathead screwdriver in between the button and the body of the vacuum (coming down from the top of the vacuum) and while pushing down on the button, pry it out. I had to be a bit "rough" with it, but it will pop out no problem as soon as enough pressure is applied. You can then reinsert the button with no problem.

Take care all.

Re-check that model number. The beginning of the number should be 116 and the rest of the number you gave doesn't correspond to any known models. You can email me directly at arctic@worldlynx.net
