Tim S. I followed your instructions, but, when I prised back the metal tabs and tried to lift of the part, the cogs fell out, before I had a chance to photograph them. I've now cleaned them all up, but have no idea in which order they go back together. Can you assist? Diagram? Photo? Thank you. Revell Cornell, Blyth, Northumberland.

If the paddle does not rotate, unplug ipthe fryer Turn it over and remove the 3 torx screws and take off the base cover. The paddle motor is synchronous, with a coil potted in resin and a rotating part. If the gearbox gets gummed up with oil residue the motor will stop but it won’t burn out. Ideally you should check that when the unit is switched on there is 240v at the motor terminals, but whether you do that depends on your comfort with testing live voltages. If there is power there, it’s likely the motor has stopped because of oil residues passing down the drive shaft into the gearbox. Remove the 2 screws that hold the motor/gearbox/paddle drive into the underside of the cooking chamber. Slide off the two spade terminal connections. With a small straight screwdriver pry back the 6 metal tabs holding the gearbox to the motor. Photograph it at each stage as you slide off the plastic gears. Drop them and the gear plate into a bit of solvent (petrolworks well) and scrub the grease off them with a toothbrush. The motor cog is visible and it should turn one way easily and the other for about half a turn before it hits a stop prompting the motor to reverse and turn (so the paddle goes clockwise). If it’s stiff drop the whole motor into petrol and let it soak for a few hours turning the cog with your finger every 30 minutes or so. When you’ve done this take the motor out and shake it dry then leave overnight for any remaining petrol to evaporate. Reassemble the clean gears with a tiny drop of oil on each shaft. Fit the motor and bend back the tabs to their former positions. You should be in business again. The number of times you can do this depends on the tabs not breaking so I’d expect after a couple of times you’ll be on thin ice.

I'm sorry I don't have an answer, but mine has packed in just after a year too and I only used it once a week if that - so less than 50 times in total - CRAP.
