Hotpoint Aquarius WMA56 part-fill problem?

My WMA 56 only partly fills. Spin is OK. The engineer (who is experienced and excellent) is totally baffled - having checked the pressure switch for the water level (its OK). He recently gave the machine a good clean (hard water area) and the problem has emerged since then so I suspect something has got blocked - but what? The effect is too little water in drum, soap tablets not being only partially dissolved so clothes need handrinsing afterwards as a result. Help please!

Thanks. I have now tried cleaning the chamber (it was not obstructed) but this has not solved the problem. Also I have checked the water level as Mike has suggested - the water only reaches 2/3rds or 3/4 of the paddle. The machine always used to work perfectly - plenty of water and easily able to dissolve two tablets. So something is definitely wrong now - whilst some water gets in, enough does not and it is worse when there are clothes in it (presumably because the clothes soak up the little water that does come in). If there is supposed to be a second fill (to top up the water once the clothes have absorbed some) I'd guess this is not happening. Might that be it? If so, can you advise if this is likely to be connected with the pressure switch, or might it be the controller? Thanks again for your help!

that machine only fills to a low level anyway...the way to check the level is to allow the machine to fill with no washing in.when you are sure it has finished filling turn the machine off, wait for two minutes for door lock to de-energise then open the door, turn the drum by hand so that a blue paddle is at 6 oclock position and if the level is correct the water will just reach the top of the paddle..i suggest you use extra rinse and liquid detergent

hi follow the tube from the water switch down to the bottom of machine you will find a plastic chamber this need cleaning out.remove and a good wash under tap should cure it(DONT FORGET POWER OFF)
