Thinkpad 600 - DEV 001, ERR 96, FRU 3810?

The above test error message figures faced me when I switched on my laptop after several months non-use. Could anyone tell me what they mean - and what I can do about them? They show up in the test routine as a system board fault.

I said this already replace the cmos 2025 battery but didnt tell how. it looks like a watch battery and is wrapped in yellow plastic and has 1 red n 1 black wire unplug it and plug the new 1 back in. it may be located under the main batt. or close 2 the memory under a plate with one screw.

lenovo will not help you!!! the answer is simple and fairly cheap. go to radio shack and buy the cr2025 replacement battery and DONE! dont buy anything else.

brannonkrg@yahoo.com, December 2008
Replacing the Battery with a CR2025 was exactly the solution!
Works greatly.

That's probably the CMOS battery dead, accessible by pulling the little wires beside the memory. Get a watch battery of the same voltage and replace it and you're in business. More details available in the manual mentioned above.

I suggest that you download a Hardware Maint. Manual from: www.lenovo.com.
