i was driving my vivaro today when suddenly the rev counter went haywire and the van picked up speed, tried dipping the clutch but no help and kept accdelersting so i put on the brsakes and turned off ignition as smoke was piling out under bonnet etc kept goping for about five mins then cut out, fire brigade sya no sign of fire...help

sounds like it was running on engine oil,could be that turbo seals leaking causing oil to feed direct into manifold or it may have been overfilled with oil!
