How do I change the drum bearings on my Indesit W123UK S/N 010167254?

I believe the drum bearings and seal have failed on my W123UK (play when the inner drum lip is lifted, rumbling noise when the pulley/drum is rotated by hand, and brown oily witness marks on pulley/back of outer drum/inside of cabinet).

Do I need to remove the whole steel drum assembly (inner & outer) from the cabinet, before removing the Pulley (part number C0D174000703) & Spider (Part 174000696.04)?

Or can they be removed with the drum assembly in place? If this is possible how do you support the inner drum to prevent damage?

Big job, outer drum has to be removed and split to get to the inner drum. You will then need a puller to remove the bearing. If it's an old machine, buy a new one.
