i have over wound my chimes on my grandfather clock?

i have over wound my chimes and my grandfather clock won't go. it still chimes if i turn the hands myself but not the right amount of times on each hour. it has 2 weights both hanging down.

I find on mine, that it can take a few chimes to get to correct sequence, took me 5 goes last weekend, After I forgot to wind it. I find switching the chimes off/on very slowly, pausing each time, several times, tends to get it sorted, If yours can be switched, if not. As they are chiming, not overwound anymore. Just keep getting it to chime, it will get back to correct sequence.
