Can you Swap a coil & flywheel from a late engine to an early engine?

I've got two Briggs & Stratton engines, one is an early one with side crank and the other is a late one with vertical crank - the late one is a 3.5 hp Magnetron vertical crank with no points. The early one has points & coil etc. Can I swap the Magnetrons flywheel and coil straight onto the early engine?
