Ive got a Ravenheat Combi Boiler (one without a pilot light window). A fw weeks ago it just stopped working. When switching to on you do hear the usual click but nothing happens, no whirring or anything else even when the hot water tap is opened fully for several minutes or when the c/h temp is turned right up. Electricity is fine but i cant get the cover off the unit to check the status of the pilot light as the builder has plastered right around the thing. What signs can i look for to see whether the circulation pump or pump valve is the cause? If the pump is OK shoudl the boiler make a whirring noise when it is witched on (it doenst at the moment). There is sufficient water pressure in the heating system and theres been no change in cold water in/feed pressure.

Aha Thanks for that! Got the cover off. It is an LS 80T (White Star)
No pilot light
No sign of fan running when heating is switched on or off (completely silent)
Tried the ignition button with the boiler on but not switched to the heating setting no joy in relighting pilot, tried again during and after pressing the reset button. again no joy.
There is a yellow cap covering the back of the gas valve mechanism, the small piston beneath this cap did have a little give in it when pressed gently (does this indicate the valve is still functioning??)

Does it look like the fan is the point of failure? If so is it possible to access the fan without removing the boiler from the wall?

YOU SHOULD HEAR THE FAN KICK IN BEFORE IT LIGHTS TO REMOVE ANY GASES IN THE FLUE THEN THE BOILER WILL LIGHT . YOU NEED TO GED THE COVER OFF THEN CHECK THE FAN
