It doesn't matter if the blade is not square to the slot or the table top outer edges,you ALWAYS set the FENCE square to the blade,measure the distance of the front of the blade from the fence using a rule lying flat on the table then do the same at the back(don't matter what order you do this)then lock the fence up.Unless you have a precision cast iron table you have to compensate yourself.Set the FENCE SQUARE TO THE BLADE and you will get a perfect parallel cut.Best with 2 people,you feed it keeping up to the fence and someone gently supports the other end(unless your good it will wobble out of line).Practice man practice.
