Has anyone got one of these spare? or an equivalent. I need a tuner due to water down the coax cable.

Try pressing the small reset button on the back, it works, and you will not loose any stored information.

Have you tried turning it off for an hour and then turning it back on. This happens to me quite often and leaving it off for a while ususally allows it to come back on. Also have you tried to press the TV/AV button on the remote as sometimes it switches to TV mode when its on standby and then standby won't work as its on TV mode and needs to go back on to AV mode. Basically just press the AV button on the digibox remote and then try standby.

We have had this box for at least two years now and find it excellent apart from the remote which on the odd occasion fails to achieve a response from the box. The strange aspect though is, as you say, you're still 'winked' at as if the box itself might be to blame.

Anyway I found that if the batteries are removed and left for about 20 minutes before being replaced again, everything works as it should.

Try this first. Unplug it from the mains a leave it for a while to cool down. Plug it back in. If that fails then you are probably going to have to buy a new box because budget boxes like Matsui are probably not worth repairing. Alternatively try DSG (Dixons/Currys) as Matsui is one of their own brands.
