When starting my Dispatch after being stood overnight or through the day, there is a loud rattly type knock for the first 20-30 seconds. The van drives well and there are no lights on, on the dash etc.Any ideas.
There's no smoke at all other than the usual cold engine stuff when you accelerate, which goes as the engine warms up.Really bugging me as the van drives fine,i just don't want to take it in to a garage and be charged a fortune for someone to try and find the fault.

When it starts does it kick out white smoke until the knock stops???????? If it does then one or more of the fuel injectors is leaking into the cylinders when it is stood

If it was an injector, wouldn't it happen every time you start it?.it only happens on cold start and like i say, drives fine.

One of your fuel injectors is leaking.you only get knock from excess fuel in these situations.you have one thats dribbling fuel into the bore.

No these have been done.I've been told it's definitly a diesel knock of some sort.
