My washing machine washes and spins in one direction only. Why?

my Simpson Espira 550 washes and spins in one direction only. What can be the problem?

It is supposed to spin in only one direction. The agitate is different and should go both ways. Probably a fault on the control board. Can't think of any other reason for not going both ways.
