In my experiance as a plant fitter, there are 3 colours of smoke from the exaust. Black is excess fuel being burnt, blue is unburnt fuel( faulty injector) and white which indicates there is water getting into the combustion chamber. You say you have lost power is it running on 3 cylinders ( 4 cyl.)
I would suggest head gasget.

Tough one to answer,
What does the engine idle like?

it can be very difficult to determine what your problem could be,whether the smoke is coolant related or fuel related, have you had a code reader onto it?before you start changing expensive parts for no gain have a look at fuel pipes for chaffing, when you did the filter was there any water/sediment in filter?Another thing to check would be your timing, which would entail getting timing pins for the crank and fuel pump,I know there have been problems with chains/tensioners etc on these resulting in chain jumping teeth,I remember talking to a friend once about a smoking transit and think he said fuel pressure regulators on the pump were a source of problems also,a leak off test for the injectors is another thing worth looking at but first would make sure the filter is correctly fitted and sealed and you have good clean diesel with no water in the system,as I said there is no easy solution to these faults but to work through different scenarios
