Removing AGA hotplate covers for cleaning?

The older AGAs had a simple hinge system.
As I remember the hinge pins were grooved and secured by small grub screws... Remove screw, push out pin and lift off cover... No sweat.
Now the clever people at Telford have changed a simple effective system to an unfathomable problem....
There are M8 grubscrews at the ends of each pin, (Gawd knows what they are supposed to do)..
A Small socket screw on the RH side of the assembly (which I think adjusts the open position of the lid/cover) and a couple of almost inaccessable hex screws between the hinge and the cover...
SWMBO wants me to remove the covers so she can clean it properly...
Any help appreciated..
Cheers in advance

When the Aga iscold use an allen key to undo the 10mm grub screw at the end of the top hinge block and remove the 2 smaller grub screws at the front of the block. The spindle can then be pushed out sideways which permits the cover/dome [heavy] to be lifted off.

My problem is the same and so far I have not fixed it. Please help if you can.
