Security lighting?

i have just got a security light that is supposed to be connected using a switched fused spur, but the light i am replacing is fitted to the lighting circuit. will it make any difference if the new light is fitted to the lighting circuit

It shouldn't do. In the UK at least, all lighting circuits should ne fused to 5 or 6 amps which obviates the need for a fused spur. Some security lights, however, require a switched spur in order to set them to the required mode.
You can usually achieve this by using your MCB if your consuner unit features one.
